I was born in Corozal Town, a small, coastal community in Belize, with a population of around 10,000 Corozaleños. A special town with friendly, down to earth, unassuming folks, of all races. A place where almost everybody knows each other. I now live in Los Angeles, a large coastal community in southern California, with about 10 million residents.
In Corozal, we say, slow down man, weh di gwan? In LA we say, hurry up, or get out of the way.
I am a self taught artist. I speak English, Spanish and English creole. My recent ancestors are Mayan, Caucasian, African, Spanish and Indian. I am the human intersection where the races collide. I am all, and yet, I am none. I know, we are all the same. Every time we discriminate against a race of people, I feel it.
I love simplicity. I believe that every solution is revealed in nature. Nature has done all the work. I just follow the clues to find the answers. So, like a child in a garden, I look for the metaphors around me and I put them in my art.
All thanks and praises, I forward to nature.
I hope you enjoy.
